Position Summary
The Senior Ultrasound Software Engineer will be a part of the development team for a novel surgical navigation platform to improve robotic oncology outcomes. You contribute to defining and developing a cutting edge surgical navigation system. Candidates should have demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and testing ultrasound algorithms for new applications. The work will be focused on research, development, and optimization of algorithms for advanced imaging modes. Ideal candidates will have experience contributing to the realization of commercial medical ultrasound products. This is a collaborative opportunity where the individual will work with other engineering disciplines, product management and clinicians.
Primary Responsibilities
Design high performance ultrasound transducers and imaging systems for cutting edge surgical navigation products using knowledge of acoustics and signal processing
Develop ultrasound imaging system beamforming and processing algorithms by creating initial designs, simulating acoustic propagation, implementing algorithms on hardware
Use laboratory skills to test, analyze data, and evaluate the performance of ultrasound systems
Work with our multidisciplinary team of product designers, mechanical, electrical, acoustic, software and algorithm engineers to realize a ground-breaking surgical navigation system.
Produce technical reports, patent applications, oral presentations, and journal publications
Stay updated with the latest advancements in ultrasound technology, image processing, machine learning literature and proactively apply new techniques to improve existing processes
Core Qualifications
MS in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, computer science or related field required with 5+ years experience or PhD with 2+ years of experience
In depth knowledge of acoustic wave propagation, scattering, and acoustic signal processing required
Experience optimizing real time ultrasound imagery using advanced beamforming and processing techniques for enhancement of key targets, noise reduction and artifact reduction required
In depth knowledge of ultrasound systems and their processing components required
Experience designing ultrasound transducers for new applications preferred
Experience designing, implementing, and testing computer vision, AI, ML to support the user including real time detection and segmentation of key features in ultrasound imagery preferred
Experience using simulation to assess feasibility of new technologies and testing them on the bench
Proficiency programming languages such as MatLab, python (Pytorch), CUDA, C#, C, or C++
Your skills include excellent written & verbal communication skills
Knowledge of a regulated FDA development environment is desirable
Ability to travel up to 10% required
